ISWinT 2013

ISWinT (International Student Week in Timisoara) is an international festival that gathers participants from all over the world each year since 1994. The purpose of this festival is to give the students from different countries the opportunity to communicate freely, to express their opinions in a productive manner, while enjoying a taste of our local culture. 

A simple word, ISWinT, brings with it 7 days of festival, perfect opportunities to meet new people, to discover new places, new traditions, to attend parties. And that is not everything this event comes with. ISWinT brings workshops, themed evenings and many many other activities. During the event you will not only discover Timisoara, you will also discover its surroundings with beautiful landscapes and the magic that comes with it. You will have the opportunity to discover the others participants’ tradition at the “Nations Party” where each country is presented by participants by means of singing, theater or video-projection, so that we that we can get a clearer picture of their culture and habits.

The purpose of the 2013 edition (15-24 July 2013) of the longest-running student festival worldwide is to create a suitable environment for cultural exchange by getting the local community involved in the activities organized for the participants.

 

This year’s theme is focused on the exchange of ideas through which we aim to underline, in an objective manner, the differences between cultures, leaving behind the stereotypes and preconceptions related to the nationalities’ customs and traditions. This way we hope to bridge the gap between the different perspectives of the participants which will lead to their acknowledgement of the importance of cultural diversity.
 
This year’s breakthrough is the idea of encouraging the participants to leave their mark on our city. For this to be possible, we have in mind a series of new activities which will allow the participants to bring their contribution to the enhancing of Timisoara’s cultural diversity.
 
To sum up, during the 20th ISWinT edition our purpose is to bring to light the impact of the cultural diversity, as well as the importance of creating an environment where all these differences are highly valued and appreciated. All this and much more can be made possible by exchanging ideas with a little glimpse on a culture snapshot.

The only thing the fee doesn’t cover for is the travel ticket to and from Timisoara and visa costs.

International Student Festival in Trondheim 2013

Do you want to be a part of the world’s largest student festival? Apply for participation at ISFiT 2013 for an experience unlike anything you have ever known!

ISFiT is short for the “International Student Festival in Trondheim”. What the name does not say, is that ISFiT is also the world’s largest international student festival. ISFiT is arranged every other year, and each festival has a theme related to social and political topics with international relevance. The theme for ISFiT 2013 is global trade, and the festival is held from the 7th to the 17th of February, in the city of Trondheim, Norway. Here, over 450 students from all over the world gather to attend 17 different workshops and take part in the festivals culture program. ISFiT is a non-profit organization and is brought to life with the efforts of more than 400 student volunteers.

In addition to the workshops, ISFiT highlights the festival theme through a vast cultural program consisting of concerts, plenary sessions, art exhibitions, performing arts and ceremonies. The culture program offers an extensive range of events for the visiting participants, but is also available for the population of Trondheim.

ISFiT 2013’s vision is to create a better future for young people in the world. By being a meeting place where people can discussion and debate, ISFiT aims at fostering inspiration and being a starting point for international cooperation amongst students. Here, where friendships are made and valuable lessons learned, the participants can trade their ideas and visions.

If you are interested in participating in ISFiT 2013, you must fill in the application  form by the 30th of September 2012. Please note that you have to be at least 18 years old and a student at the time of participation.

When you apply for the festival, you apply for one of the seventeen different workshops, and you will be attending this workshop throughout the ten days of the festival. You can read more about the workshops here.

No fees are required to attend the festival itself, but all participants will have to cover the travel expenses to and from Trondheim.

ISFiT 2013 aims to have skilled participants with diverse backgrounds regarding geography, culture, class and gender. To achieve this goal, ISFiT 2013 will be able to offer some participants financial support. To apply for financial support, fill in the corresponding section of the application form. 

Please note that ISFiT 2013 only has a limited sum to offer, so we encourage you to search for alternative ways of financing your travel. Travel funds are only meant to cover travel costs to and from Trondheim and your home city. We do not have the possibility to fund visa costs. Travel support is only awarded to students who are invited and who attend the festival.

Applications will be read after the 30th of September, and those who are selected to participate will receive an invitation by e-mail. Instructions on how to obtain a visa and other formalities, will be given to the invited students. Due to limited capacity we cannot invite all applicants.

Perugia International Journalism Festival 2012

The next edition of the annual Perugia International Journalism Festival will be held on April 25-29, 2012, in Perugia, Italy.

The annual Perugia International Journalism Festival is the leading journalism event in Italy. It is an open invitation to listen to and network with the best of world journalism. The leitmotiv is one of informality and accessibility, designed to appeal to journalists, aspiring journalists and those interested in the role of the media in society. Simultaneous translation into English and Italian is provided. The festival is open to the public free of charge.

The festival was founded in 2006 by Arianna Ciccone and Christopher Potter. The objective? To set up an event which would break the mould – not another institutional forum or media industry get-together but rather an opportunity for you to engage with leading journalists from all over the world. Free. With content designed to appeal across the spectrum. The media plays such a fundamental role in our daily lives yet an event designed explicitly to bring together top-drawer media protagonists and the general public didn’t seem to exist. Literary festivals, science festivals, music festivals abounded. But where was the journalism festival? Nowhere. So we created it.

The 2007 first edition was a modest affair but by the 2011 fifth edition there were some 150 different events in the 5–day programme and more than 500 speakers, 250 accredited journalists and 200 volunteers in attendance. Aggregate festival audiences totalled about 30,000 despite our promotion being exclusively online due to budget constraints. The 2012 sixth edition will be the biggest and best yet.

All festival events are free entry. Of all the festival events, only the workshops require registration (in order to maintain participant numbers at a pre-established level).

International Student Week in Belgrade 2012 - "Youth Changing the World"

We are more than happy to announce that the sixth ISWiB (International Student Week in Belgrade), under the motto "Youth Changing the World" will take place from 15th to 22nd July 2012 in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. We came a long way since our humble beginnings in 2006, constantly improving in quantity and popularity, and we have no intention of stopping. The previous edition of the festival, ISWiB 2011, gathered more than 200 students from 50 countries from all over the world.

As the goal of ISWiB is breaking national, religious, cultural and language barriers, not only through the exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, but also by making friends and hanging out with each other, ISWiB 2012 will be an opportunity for lots of fun, cultural manifestations, day trips and, of course, parties!

This year, the participants can make their choice of workshop from the 8 following ones:

4) Business and marketing kindergarden
5) Project managment
6) Photography
7) Theater
8) Filmmaking

We will also include a panel discussion and open leactures concerning the ways youth changes the world. The Country fair will be the centerpiece of the cultural program again. The official language of ISWiB is English.

Just like last year, the participation fee is 90 euros for foreign students, and covers accomodation, food and workshop materials. For Serbian students, the participation fee is 45 euros and doesn’t cover accomodation.

All European students and those from the other continents but studying in Europe at the moment, can apply for ISWiB. All fields of study are welcome, there are no special requirements. Recently graduated students are also welcome.

International Novruz Festival 2012

The next edition of the International Novruz Festival in Azerbaijan - INFA 2012 - will take place on 15-22 March 2012 in Baku. This project will give you a unique chance to experience different parts of NOVRUZ holiday, such as jumping over bonfires and running through the streets, banging on pots and pans with spoons and knocking on doors with your hats and bags to ask for little presents (sweets and candies) and tasting national cookeries, such as shekerbura, pakhlava, goghal that you have never had before! Another essential part of this festival is a chance to visit the capital of Azerbaijan Baku – the city of centuries – old history, ancient traditions and modern reality became known as “Paris of the East”. And this is not all; lots of surprises are waiting for you…

Aims

• To create a culturally diverse and open environment where all of the participants will be able to express their own culture and appreciate the others, discuss different global issues (e.g. ‘tolerance’, ‘local traditions and globalization’, ‘culture in the modern world’, ‘music as a way of expression’ etc.).
• Gain mutual respect for the different cultures in the world and promote peace in our big home – Earth.
• To explore ancient traditions and habits of Azerbaijan culture, to celebrate the antique holiday of Novruz – the beginning of spring in Azerbaijan.

Eligibility Requirements

This event aims to bring together 70 motivated participants between the age of 18-35 who are interested in culture and ancient traditions.

Costs

There is a participation fee of 60 Euros. This fee covers the following costs:

• Accommodation and food throughout the whole week;
• Local transportation;
• Free entrance to the parties and other events

Participants will be required to cover their travel expenses by themselves. Only limited funds are available to provide reimbursement of the travel expenses of some qualified participants. The financial assistance requests for travel expenses will be considered individually.

Millennium Youth Camp 2012 in Helsinki

Technology Academy Finland and the Finnish Science Education Centre LUMA organize the next Millennium Youth Camp to be held in Helsinki Metropolitan Region, Finland in June 2012. During this camp, about 30 talented and young people from different parts of the world will meet for a week to work together on different projects on mathematics, science and technology. These young people will also get a chance to meet famous scientists as well as the 2012 Millennium Technology Prize Winner during this event.

The Millennium Youth Camp is held on an annual basis, attended by students from all continents. In 2011, almost 1500 young people from a hundred different countries applied to take part. One of the camp’s primary goals is to encourage young scientists to network at an early stage in their careers and help them launch a career in science or technology.

During the camp, Millennium Youth Campers are presented with an overview of Finnish expertise and top-level research in the natural sciences, mathematics and technology. They are introduced to a number of Finnish companies and institutes of higher education. In addition to lectures, workshops and visits to Youth Camp partners, the camp programme includes project work supervised by top-level experts and carried out in small multi-national groups. The Millennium Youth Camp’s official language is English.

The week-long 2012 Millennium Youth Camp will take place in the Helsinki Metropolitan Region and start on 9 June 2012. Participation is free of charge. As in previous years, the project themes are climate change, renewable natural resources and energy, water, ICT and digitalisation, and applied mathematics.

Costs 

Millennium Youth Camp is free of charge to participants! The organisers take care of all costs, including flight tickets and other travel and accommodation expenses.

Eligibility

Anyone born between years 1993-1996 is eligible to apply for a place in the 2012 Millennium Youth Camp. Applicants must have good English-language skills as the camp programme and all related material are only produced in English.

How to apply?

The application process has 2 phases:

In the first phase, young people from all over the world who were born between 1993 and 1996 are eligible to apply for a place in the 2012 Millennium Youth Camp using the online application form. Application deadline is December 18, 2011. The names of the 100 applicants selected for the second phase of the application process will be published on 1 February 2012, and they will be given a period of four weeks to produce project plans. In the second phase, the 30 camp participants will be selected by a steering group consisting of representatives of Finnish higher educational institutions and Millennium Youth Camp partners. International Student Week in Timisoara (ISWinT) 2011

ISWinT team is proud to announce that preparations for this year’s festival, which will take place between the 18th and 27th of July, are in full swing. ISWinT (International Student Week in Timisoara, Romania) is an international festival that gathers participants from all over the world each year since 1994. The purpose of this festival is to give the students from different countries the opportunity to communicate freely, to express their opinions in a productive manner, while enjoying a taste of our local culture. The theme for this summer is “Celebrate Innovation. Keep Tradition”. The reason behind this particular choice of words is to emphasize the antithesis that appears between tradition and innovation, two sides of a continuously flipping coin.

During the 10 days of festival the participants have the opportunity to make new friends, discover the Romanian culture, discuss and express their opinions during the workshops or while attending the conferences. As a means to relax and have fun, they get to attend parties, themed evenings, or afternoons dedicated to recreational activities, such as games, sports, or simply escape into the tranquility of nature. Romania's beautiful landscapes are revealed during the two-day trip when we will visit the surroundings of Timisoara. 

Program

The festival program is composed of 13 different workshops and a number of cultural events and study trips.

Costs

There is a 100 euro participation fee that will cover accommodation, food (3 meals/day), free entrance to parties and all the places we will visit, the costs for the trip in the surroundings of Timisoara, transportation around the city during the festival and materials for the workshops. The 100 euro fee does not include travel expenses to and from Timisoara and visa costs.

All you have to do is fill out the application form until May 15, 2011, and we'll contact you by June 10 if you are selected! There are also some conditions required for eligibility: it's absolutely necessary for you to be an 18-28 years old student. The working language of the festival is English.

Annual Open International Festival of Multimedia Art “Multimatograf-7”

This year the Annual Open International Festival of Multimedia Art "Multimatograf" will take place for the seventh time. It will be held on April 23-24, 2011 in Vologda, Russia. "Multimatograf" is an outstanding event in the field of animation. Creative spirit, unordinary mixture of unordinary ideas and technological «know-how», computer art availability - that are the principles that we base upon.

The festival is primarily aimed to support independent young artists, who are eager to realize their creative potential and wish to share their ideas and message with the world through the means of multimedia art. Festival participants are usually those young people, who have active life position and intend to make the world a more beautiful place. In the six years the Festival gathered more than 500 works from all over Russia and abroad – Ukraine, Belorussia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, the USA, Mexico, Denmark, Canada, etc.

Application

If you do animation, music videos, video-art and you want to share your ideas and want your work to find its audience – you are welcome to the Festival!

The works must fall into one of the four nominations:

Costs 

All the works must be non-commercial. The organizers also don’t charge any participation fee and all the festival events are free for the participants. They will include a number of master-classes, seminars, work screenings, an exhibition of retro-computers, gala-concert, after-party.

European Forum of Students for Legality

FLARE – Freedom, Legality and Rights in Europe –  would like to present to you its following international event: European Forum of Students for Legality, that will take place in the European Capital of Youth – Turin, Italy from the 5 to 7 of December 2010.

After the end of the event, participants will have the opportunity to join a bigger FLARE event on the topic of globalisation and the struggle against organised crime in Europe in the ‘capital of the EU’, Brussels, Belgium on 9 and 10 of December 2010. The forum is promoted by FLARE Network and coordinated together with the students’ organizations at the University of Turin UniLIbera and Studenti Indipendenti.

The goal of the forum is to provide space for sharing knowledge and experiences between 30 students from different European countries who have been involved in student movements and initiatives which voiced the students needs for freedom of expression, students rights and equality, anti-corruption in the higher education system etc.

Based on the shared knowledge the participants of the forum should come up with their own Student Declaration for Legality which should be used as a international tool for advocacy for students rights and freedoms trough out Europe. This document will be drafted by the students and distributed by them to their colleagues and student organizations at their Universities.

After the realisation of the declaration, participants will travel to Brussels (Dec 8 ) to attend a conference on the topic of globalization and struggle against organised crime on 9 and 10 of December where they will have the chance to visit the European Parliament, and present their work and product to a bigger international community.

Eligibility

Undergraduate and post graduate (current or recent) students coming from European countries (EU and non-EU). Experience and engagement with student movements and student organizations is a plus.

Fees

Board and lodging as well as local transport to facilities will be fully covered by the organizer. Trip from Turin to Brussels and back is also covered by the organizer. Participants shall receive 70% reimbursement from the travel expenses not exceeding 350 eur.

Millennium Youth Camp in Finland

Young people have the key role in resolving global challenges in the future. The target of the international Millennium Youth Camp (MY Camp) is to find young people interested in mathematics, science and technology, and help them start up a career in these fields. MY Camp also aims to raise awareness of the educational and working opportunities available in Finland and promoting the Millennium Technology Prize, Finland's tribute to developers of life-enhancing technological innovations, awarded by Technology Academy Finland. The next MY Camp will be organised on 11 - 17 June 2011. 

The first-ever MY Camp was organised in Helsinki in June 2010. Almost one thousand applications were received from 62 countries and from all continents, and 30 talented young people from 14 countries were selected as participants. The camp got excellent feedback from all the MY Campers and organisers.

The main organisers of MY Camp are Technology Academy Finland and the Finnish Science Education Centre LUMA.

MY Camp is an inspiring way of offering young people aged 16-19 years (on the 2011 camp, young people born between years 1992-1995) an overview of Finnish expertise and top-level research in the natural sciences, mathematics and technology. Students network with each other, with individuals in Finnish companies and organisations, and with top scientists. During the one-week-camp, MY Campers are introduced to a number of Finnish companies and higher educational institutions. In addition to lectures, workshops and visits to MY Camp partners, the programme includes project work supervised by top-level experts and carried out in small multi-national groups.

Balkan Youth Sport Democracy Training

The International Sport and Culture Association, in cooperation with Danish Gymnastics and Sports Associations and Sport For All Serbia, has the pleasure to invite you to the Balkan Youth Sport Democracy Training that will be held on November 22-28, 2010 in Serbia.

The main themes of the training are:

- intercultural dialogue through youth and sport activities

- democratic youth participation.

The objectives of the training:
- Develop the skills of Balkan youth leaders in promoting inter-ethnic dialogue through youth and sport activities;
- Support Balkan youth leaders to discover and develop innovative ways of participating in democratic decision making processes in their local communities;
- Establish a network of youth leaders that are actively pursuing and implementing cross-cutting initiatives in the youth and sport field in the Balkans.

Eligibility
Participants should be:
- aged between 15 – 30 years
- involved in local NGOs
- have experience from other related events
- show motivation to be part of an international learning experience
- residents of one of the following countries: ALBANIA, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA, CROATIA, KOSOVO, MACEDONIA, MONTENEGRO, SERBIA, SLOVENIA AND DENMARK.

The working language will be English, therefore each participant is required to have good communication skills in this language.

Financial conditions and financial support
ISCA and DGI will cover all costs related to accommodation and food. The participants should arrange their own travel to and from Serbia. Participants will receive a travel reimbursement of 70% of the total costs, up to the amounts mentioned below. The organizers will need to see all original tickets and receipts to be able to enable a refund. We encourage participants to make use of the cheapest methods of travel possible.

Maximum reimbursement of travel costs:

- Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Serbia € 70
- Croatia and Montenegro € 100
- Albania, Macedonia and Slovenia € 120
- Denmark € 200

The participation fee for the seminar is 30 euro and will be deducted from the travel reimbursement.

ISFiT 2011 - International Student Festival in Trondheim

The next edition of ISFiT festival will take place on February, 11-20, 2011. ISFiT - International Student Festival in Trondheim, Norway, is the world’s largest student festival with a thematic focus. About 450 students from all over the world attend the festival. The themes have changed over the years, but have always been related to social and political topics with international relevance. 

 

World figures often attend ISFiT and past speakers include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, former Director-General of WHO Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Dr José Ramos-Horta and Professor Wangari Maathai. Using modern technology, both former US president Bill Clinton and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr Desmond Tutu have relayed their thoughts about the global significance of ISFiT to plenum ceremonies at the festival.

As students are the future leaders of the world we believe that their voices should be heard and international networks established. Thus, the purpose of ISFiT is to be a meeting place for discussion and debate, an arena where ideas are born, friendships are made and valuable lessons are learned. The festival aims at fostering inspiration and being a starting point for international cooperation amongst students. ISFiT is a non-profit festival.

The ISFiT participants take part in different workshops, which highlight the festival theme in various ways. Several lectures and thematic meetings will be arranged, where well-known international speakers share their views with the participants and others. The ISFiT audience is also welcome to join a vast cultural programme of concerts, art exhibitions and performing arts. 

How to apply

In order for you to participate in ISFiT 2011, you need to send an application to the ISFiT 2011 board. All applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently studying. The board will process the applications and send out personal invitations to the students we select.

If you apply for participation at ISFiT 2011, please note that you'll receive a personal invitation from the ISFiT 2011 board before planning your trip. We receive thousands of applications to each ISFiT, but are only able to invite approximately 450 students for each festival. The personal invitations will be given on the basis of the essays you write in the application. 

Financial Support

ISFiT 2011 aims for a great variety in the background of the students who will attend the festival. We seek different points of views and therefore different cultural perspectives from the participants. In order to reach this goal we can offer financial support to selected students. Please note that ISFiT 2011 has a limited amount of funds to offer, so we recommend that you will find alternate ways of financing your journey. There is a variety of scholarships and legacies for wich you may apply, or maybe your university will support you. Specifications of what expenses the travel support covers is outlined in the travel support application. You can apply for financial support at the end of the application form.

Food and accommodation

As a participant at ISFiT 2011 there will be no expenses for food and accommodation. During your stay in Trondheim, you will be living with a host who will provide you with a bed and breakfast. Lunch and dinner will be served at the workshops free of charge.

Language

During the festival, English will be the working language. As a participant it is therefore important that you have sufficient knowledge of both oral and written English.

16th International Student Congress in Lisbon

Students from all over Europe and beyond are invited to participate at the 16th International Student Congress held on the initiative of "Students for Europe" (SFE). This year's congress will be featuring the topic “Opportunity? Challenge? Risk? - It's up to (E)U!” and will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on October 7-10, 2010. 

The congress brings together up to 120 students from all European countries to discuss European issues interdisciplinary and on a European level with notable representatives from economy, politics and society. It is an outstanding possibility to get in touch with people from all over Europe, broaden one own‘s horizon by interesting and different positions being discussed, and learn about the culture and history of SFE's host country.

Our congresses are based on the idea of European integration achieved by exchange of opinions and cultures. Our participants are aware of the upcoming challenges of peacekeeping in an international environment, where national interests interfere with international ones, resources are limited and so far trusted systems, as only happened in the financial crisis, might collapse all of a sudden. We believe that Europe will only survive in long term if all countries work together and at least try to understand the fears and changes faced by other members of the EU and its citizens. Interaction, knowledge and compromises will be the key to understand other European nations and their culture in order to be able to form a corporate identity.

This year congress is supported by Mr Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission. Beside interesting discussions there will also be a cultural and evening program, such as a guided city tour, a gala dinner and a Goodbye party.

The participation fee for the SFE Congress 2010 in Lisbon is 125 Euro. The participation fee has to be paid within one week upon registration. Registration will be completed once the organization team has received the full amount of the fee and you have received a confirmation of your registration.

eYouwins 2010: Act Now - Change the Future

The fifth European Youth Week in Novi Sad (Green Week in Novi Sad: Act Now - Change the Future) will be held between 17th and 24th August 2010 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

In 2010 eYouwins celebrates 5th birthday and invites 200 participants to come to Novi Sad, between 17th and 24th August; to focus on green ways of life and sustainable development of our society. Therefore, this year eYouwins is Green Week in Novi Sad (greenWins). The motto and the title Green Week in Novi Sad: Act Now - Change the Future is motivated by the prime importance that young people understand and value the significance of concept of the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. The youth of today have to be aware of the challenges of sustainable development and climate change as they will lead and live the changes required responding to them. Therefore we are creating platform which will enable participants to explore the human, social and educational aspects of this important issue through discussions, workshops and conferences.

The mission of greenWins is to promote green way of life and potential that lies in the harmonic relationship between humans and the environment. The project targets young people at the first place, for the simple reason that environmental sustainability affects their lives today and their futures more than anyone else. They have the potential, ability and influence needed to create change. It is clear that young people’s involvement in the present trends of development will ensure a sustainable future for themselves and for future generations.

The task of greenWins is to cultivate a sense of environmental ownership and responsibility in youth and overall community, ensuring that local and global sustainability efforts will continue into the future. Participants will work together in both theoretical and practical workshops and learn about recycling, applied ecology, water protection and clean energy. Additionally, numerous concrete actions will be organized during the week targeting and involving local population in Novi Sad.

Since participants will come from many different countries, it is a good occasion to learn from each other’s cultural and social background in order to find a common field of cooperation. This learning experience will be additionally amplified by multinational and multireligious surrounding of Novi Sad and Vojvodina. In order to address different needs of participants and to fulfill project goals in an innovative way, program of the eYouwins is structured as a combination of three elements: education, action and fun. Synergy of these festival elements will lead to fulfilling project objectives.

Participation fee for greenWins is 60 Euro for international participants and 3000 Dinars for the participants from Serbia. The participation fee covers accommodation, and meals during the Festival (light brekfast, lunch and dinner per day), organised excursions, sightseeing, entrance fees, and free participation in trips, conference programme, cultural and sport events of the Festival. The fee does not include travel costs and personal expenses. Accepted participants will pay the participants fee on arrival, at the registration. 

Eligibility. Youth from Serbia and all over Europe, aged between 18 and 28 years; all European students as well as those from other continents currently studying in Europe can apply for eYouwins2010. Young people from all backgrounds are welcome. There are no special requirements. The official language of eYouwins is English. It is expected that 30% of all participants will be from Serbia.

ISWinT 2010

Applications are now open for the 17th edition of the International Student Week in Timisoara that will take place between the 19th and 26th of July, 2010 in Timisoara, Romania.

"Closed Eyes, Open Mind” is the theme of this years festival. Nowadays we are surrounded by bright colors and technology which keeps us away from the important things in life. Join us and together we will cross the borders of imagination trying to close our eyes and open our minds.

ISWinT (International Students Week in Timisoara) is an international festival that gathers participants from all over the world each spring since 1994. The purpose of this festival is to give an opportunity to the students from different countries to communicate freely, to express their opinions, to interact in a better way, and debate on different themes.

During the 7 days of festival the participants have the opportunity to make new friends, to know the Romanian culture, to discuss, to express their opinions during the workshops, to attend the conferences. There is a possibility to relax and to have fun each night at the parties and at the sports afternoon. Romania's beautiful landscape is revealed during the one-day trip, when we visit the surroundings.

To be eligible for participation, you currently need to be a student and have good English skills. Participants will be chosen on the basis of their motivation essays.

Festival of Young Journalists in Hrodna

The Centre for informational support of public initiatives “The Third Sector" in cooperation with Belarusian Association of Journalists is organising the second edition of the Festival of Young Journalists in Hrodna, Belarus, on May 22-23, 2010.

The organisers are expecting to have near 100 participants on the festival and will be glad to see also representatives of other youth media organizations members of the European Youth Press.

There is no participation fee. Third Sector will also cover the cost of living and meals. Travel expenses will not be covered.

The following events are planned to be conducted during the Festival:

- presentations of youth media initiatives;
- workshops for young journalists;
- graduation event for School of young journalists-13;
- presentation of the European Youth Press

14th International Culture Week in Pécs

The International Culture Week in Pécs (ICWiP) is one of the most popular annual youth cultural festivals organized in the City Pécs, Hungary. ICWiP has inspired more than 3000 young people from more than 80 countries during its 13 year-long history. Now you are invited, too. This year the festival will be held on 24 July - 1 August.

Its programme combines a summer school, different cultural and sport activities, and an inspiring festival with concerts, danceshows, and exhibitions.

The one-week-long summer visit to Pécs is not just a pile of workshops and enjoyable late night events. It is about building an international community of young, open-minded, ambitious people. The participants from previous years could all justify this statement.

Our aim is not just to gather the youth from all four corners of the world to Pécs, only to spend a week together and move home with the same social web they came with. Not only experiences are being exchanged here, but e-mail and postal adresses, phone numbers, even intimate secrets with newly acquired friends.

The things that matter as the years go on are not solely the knowledge the participants gain, or the cheerful memories linked to locations and occations in the city, but invaluable relationships that link continents and nations together.

The theme of ICWiP2010 is Balkans: Re-loaded, which stems from the concept of the original European Capital of Culture application of the city of Pécs. The geopolitical area of the Balkans is unique and at the same time very multicultural. In 2010 Pécs may become the first European Capital of Culture to open a gateway to the rich multiculturalism of the Balkans, including its Islamic heritage. During the conference and festival we will be discussing what a “Balkans identity” is or whether it even exists.

How does today's youth reflect the national identities in relation to a possible “Balkans identity”? How does the youth view the future of the area? The formation process of the Balkan nations is important from the viewpoint of democracy. Keeping this in mind we have invited lecturers also from other counties and continents to share their views and experiences on the democracy development in practice.

World Youth Conference in Mexico

In the context of the International Year of Youth, Mexico invites you to participate in the World Youth Conference (WYC 2010) that will take place in Mexico City from August 23 to 27, 2010. 

The main objective of the WYC Mexico 2010 will be the creation of a declaration that represents the voice of the world's youth, concerning the main 11 subjects of the Conference: poverty and exclusion, employment, education, technology and innovation, health, gender equality, security, social justice and human rights, sustainable development, international migration, citizen's participation and incidence, and global cooperation.

Organizers are looking for an equitable participation of the NGOs of Member States of the United Nations in a number of people that can make it possible for a discussion and an establishment of agreements. Two NGOs will be selected for each country with one representative of the NGO.

The WYC Mexico 2010 will be composed of 3 main events that will be interconnected, each representing the actors involved in strengthening the young people's participation in the development of the future: the Governments Forum, the Legislators Forum and the Social Forum (the latter is composed of the Global NGOs Meeting and the Global Youth Village).

The Conference will start with the NGO Global Meeting. The aim of the NGO Global Meeting is to identify action priorities about youth to be attended in the international agenda of development further than the Millennium Development Goals. This meeting will host more than 420 participants that will generate a recommendation document which will be delivered to the Governments Forum at the beginning of their work on Wednesday, August 25th so that it can be considered in their deliberations. Likewise, the recommendation document will be delivered to the Parliamentarians Forum with the aim of including in their deliberations the demands and necessities identified during the NGO Global Meeting.

Participation requirements:

• 1.-  Participants must be nominated by a Youth Organization that fulfills the following criteria:
• a. To respect the cultural, religious and ideological diversity of the human kind, including the human rights and to show the will of contributing to the accomplishments of the Millennium Development Goals and the World Programme of Action for Youth.
• b. To have efficient and effective programs that are focused in youth and development that have an impact at a local, national and/or international level.
• 2. - You must be between 18 and 35 years before April 9th, 2010.

International Student Week in Belgrade 2010

For the fourth time this summer Belgrade will be the place to be for students from all around Europe. International Student Week in Belgrade 2010 will take place from 11th to 18th of July. This years festivals motto is "Do we tolerate intolerance?"

All European students and those from the other continents but studying in Europe at the moment can apply for ISWiB. All fields of study are welcome, there are no special requirements. Recently graduated students are also welcome. 

As the goal of ISWiB is the breaking of national, religious, cultural and language barriers, not only through the exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, but also by making friends and hanging out with each other, ISWiB 2010 will be an opportunity for lots of fun, cultural manifestations, day trips, and parties.

As previous years, participants will have a chance to participate in one of 10 workshops from different fields.
