ISWiB 2013

We are more than happy to announce that the next ISWiB will take place from 14th to 21st July 2013. This year, the International Student Week in Belgrade is going to be held for the 7th time. 

The International Student Week in Belgrade (ISWiB)  is a one-week student festival which has been traditionally held every year since 2006 in the city of Belgrade, Serbia. The Festival is open for students from all universities in Europe. Every year, ISWiB gathers over 200 young people, including participants, moderators and volunteers.

The idea of the festival is binding young people through work in several different workshops created so that every workshop covers a significant field of our society which we live in. Through workshops, close communication and cooperation, interactive lectures and various open activities, students will be able to gain new knowledge and exchange ideas. Students will also have an opportunity to establish professional contacts with eminent professors and professionals from different sectors  and develop  and create new projects by themselves. The Festival has been traditionally organized by association World Youth Wave.

Theme

This year’s International Student Week in Belgrade will be directed towards the creation of an international youth network through which the participants will be able to continue to cooperate. The educational program will aim to raise the level of their knowledge in various fields, and through formal and informal meetings the participants will be able to connect with other young people who are also engaged in that field. Each workshop will have a concrete product of their work during the festival, either in the form of a project, recorded film, exhibition, etc. We want this year to bring together young people with ideas and help them hatch a concrete product; we will work together in order to hatch the network!

 

Young people are not just the future of the world nor does the world belong to them as it was often told. They are the present holders of the society as well as other groups, which is why it is important to work together, and for that you need a platform that will be hatched from this year’s ISWiB!

Eligibility

All European students and those from the other continents but studying in Europe at the moment can apply for ISWiB. All fields of study are welcome, there are no special requirements. Recently graduated students are also welcome.

Participation fee

The fee for foreign students is 100 Euros and it includes accommodation, food and workshop expenses. For domestic students, the fee is 40 Euros and it includes food and workshops expences. Students studying in Serbia have no accomodation provided during the festival.

Travel costs are not covered with the participation fee and ISWiB will not make any reimbursement of the costs.

The official language of ISWiB is English.

Accommodation

ISWiB participants will be accommodated in Petar Drapšin Student Dormitory.

International Student Week in Belgrade 2012 - "Youth Changing the World"

We are more than happy to announce that the sixth ISWiB (International Student Week in Belgrade), under the motto "Youth Changing the World" will take place from 15th to 22nd July 2012 in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. We came a long way since our humble beginnings in 2006, constantly improving in quantity and popularity, and we have no intention of stopping. The previous edition of the festival, ISWiB 2011, gathered more than 200 students from 50 countries from all over the world.

As the goal of ISWiB is breaking national, religious, cultural and language barriers, not only through the exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, but also by making friends and hanging out with each other, ISWiB 2012 will be an opportunity for lots of fun, cultural manifestations, day trips and, of course, parties!

This year, the participants can make their choice of workshop from the 8 following ones:
1) Youth in Politics & Youth activism
2) Media
3) Restyle
4) Business and marketing kindergarden
5) Project managment
6) Photography
7) Theater
8) Filmmaking

We will also include a panel discussion and open leactures concerning the ways youth changes the world. The Country fair will be the centerpiece of the cultural program again. The official language of ISWiB is English.

Just like last year, the participation fee is 90 euros for foreign students, and covers accomodation, food and workshop materials. For Serbian students, the participation fee is 45 euros and doesn’t cover accomodation.

ISWiB 2011 - “Communication in Action!”

ISWiB 2011 applications are now open! ISWiB 2011 (International Student Week in Belgrade) will be held for the fifth time this year, in the period from 10th till 17th July 2011 in Belgrade, capital of Serbia, under the motto “Communication in Action!”. The festival will gather approximately 200 participants from the whole of Europe, with the aim of exchanging opinions and views about the hot issues that a modern society has to face, as well as overcoming global differences through a communication, personal contacts and mutual understanding.

ISWiB is a meeting platform for young people with different cultural backgrounds; it is a place to get to know each other, establish new friendships and discuss various topics, from various points of view. Through close communication and cooperation, interactive lectures and workshops, students will be able to gain new knowledge and exchange ideas in the fields of PR & marketing, environmental protection, green economy, online media, youth activism, debate, theatre, NLP, graffiti, photography and filmmaking. Students will also have an opportunity to establish professional contacts with eminent professors and professionals from different fields and develop and create new projects by themselves.

Our goal is to establish international cooperation and contacts by creating a healthy working environment and enabling stronger bonds among domestic and foreign students. By promoting the idea of the "citizen of Europe" and "citizen of the World", we insist on embracing intercultural and European values and bringing them to a global level of mutual respect and understanding.

This year, the participants of ISWiB 011 can simbolically choose from the following 11 workshops:

Apart from these 11 workshops led by partner organizations, the educational program will include a panel discussion and open lectures dealing with the communication issues in modern society. As the goal of ISWiB is promoting idea of “Citizen of the World”, not only through the exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, but also by making friendships, ISWiB 011 will be an opportunity for lots of cultural manifestations, day trips, and parties. Again, Country Fair and MTV concert will be central events of cultural program.

For the fourth time this summer Belgrade will be the place to be for students from all around Europe. International Student Week in Belgrade 2010 will take place from 11th to 18th of July. This years festivals motto is "Do we tolerate intolerance?"

All European students and those from the other continents but studying in Europe at the moment can apply for ISWiB. All fields of study are welcome, there are no special requirements. Recently graduated students are also welcome. 

As the goal of ISWiB is the breaking of national, religious, cultural and language barriers, not only through the exchange of knowledge, opinions and ideas, but also by making friends and hanging out with each other, ISWiB 2010 will be an opportunity for lots of fun, cultural manifestations, day trips, and parties.

As previous years, participants will have a chance to participate in one of 10 workshops from different fields.
