Government Farm Grants 2012-Agriculture Improvement-Apply Online Free

Government Farm Grants 2012-Agriculture Improvement-Apply Online Free
Farming has always been a vital aspect of the American way of living. It provides food and jobs to millions of people. In the modern times of big businesses, economic difficulties, and oversea outsourcing and importing, keeping a farm running has become very hard to do. Financial struggles make a farm hard to maintain and family members who used to work on farms leave home in search of better opportunities. As a means of making things easier for farmers the government has set up a number of grants intended to help farmers get back on their feet.
Government farm grants can be used for anything farm related, whether it's purchasing new land, building a new barn, or repairing buildings that have been falling apart. The farm can be used for personal use or be a small family run business, the goal is simply to keep the country's agriculture strong. As long as the people who apply for the grants meet the grant's specified requirements, they can use the money however they see fit to keep themselves and their farm in business.
The grants are easy to apply for whether a person chooses to apply on-line or at one of their local government offices. The applications don't cost anything and ask straight forward questions. Personal and financial information will be needed when filling out an application. Those that receive grants will be expected to use the money to efficiently run their farm and may be checked in on from time to time. The money that people receive from government farm grants will never need to be repaid, so the farmers can focus on maintaining their ranch and making the most of their gift. It's a good solution for families, organizations, and individuals who want to increase their farm's productivity.

3 Apps Every Study Abroad Student Should Download

Choosing to enroll in a study abroad program is one of the most intelligent things an undergraduate can do—not only can it open your eyes to an entire new world, but it can also help make you become a more independent and adventurous person. Not to mention you simultaneously get to earn college credit while exploring a new exotic location. And while you may think that you can simply just travel more once you get a full time job, an opportunity to spend several months in an exotic location may not come again. That said, if you're departing to study abroad soon, congratulations. However, for those traveling to non-English speaking countries, you might want to make sure that you are equipped with the proper tools to help you in your travels. That said, to learn the most important apps you should download on your smart phone, continue reading below.

iPronunciation
Even if you've studied a particular language for several semesters, there may be a few words that just stump you every time you try to say it out loud. Instead of feeling embarrassed because you don't know how to say it properly, use iPronunciation to help you out.  What makes this app so special is that it uses the power of two of the biggest search engines—Google and Bing—to help translate more than 50 languages. Of course it shows you the phonetic pronunciation when scrolling as well as lets you physically type in the word you need to know how to say. While the app is free to use and download, unfortunately it is only available for iPhone users. However a good alternative is BUSUU.

Word Lens
This innovative app is like using a travel size dictionary on steroids. What it does it allow users to take photos of words or phrases they don't know how to translate into English and the app will automatically do it for them. That means if you get lost and can't read a street sign, all you need to do it take a photo of it. If you don't know what you're ordering off a menu, you can take a picture of that too. We're not sure what algorithms we're used to create this nifty app, but it works wonder. Unfortunately, it can only translate Spanish, Italian, and French for now. The app is free to use and is available to both iPhone and Android system users.

Mobile City Maps
Last but certainly not least is Mobile City Maps—this handy dandy app downloads all of the most updated city maps you need to help navigate you through your foreign city—especially useful if you can't really understand a local's directions to get back to campus. The app even goes as far as leaving pins so you exactlywhere you came across the best lasagna you had in your entire life when you got lost. The best part?  It doesn't need data to load the maps or show you all of its features which means you don't risk acquiring any roaming charges or outrageous data fees when using your cell phone in a different country.

Academic Competitiveness Grants-Apply Free ACG Grants Online

Academic Competitiveness Grants-Apply Free ACG Grants Online
Many parents are struggling with finding a way to pay for their children's college education. This is a cost that seems to always increase, even when wages don't. Kids who do well in school have many options to consider when entering college, including merit scholarships and grants. One option is the Academic Competitiveness Grant. This grant is added to the other federal grants that your student can get after filing the FAFSA, and it rewards them for their good academic effort.
In order to qualify for the Academic Competitiveness Grant, the student must be able to show that he or she went through an academically challenging series of courses in high school. Each state defines a "rigorous academic curriculum," and this usually includes a set number of credit hours in each subject area. Additionally, the grades in these courses may be considered.
Eligibility for the Academic Competitiveness Grant begins with filing a FAFSA. Students who qualify for a Pell Grant also qualify for the Academic Competitiveness Grant. The student must also be enrolled full time in a college, either a two-year or four-year degree program. This grant is only available to students who graduated after January of 2005. Students applying for this grant must be American citizens as well.
If your student qualifies for an Academic Competitiveness Grant, he or she can receive up to $750 for the first year of school. That student must then keep a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. If so, the grant increases to $1,300 for the second year.
Applying for the Academic Competitiveness Grant is not difficult. If the student receives an award letter showing them that they are eligible for the Pell Grant, he or she can then take that document and a high school transcript to the financial aid office of the chosen college. There the student can get help with requesting the Academic Competitiveness Grant.
If you find that your student's transcripts are difficult to attain, you can apply for the grant without them. One option to show that your student has completed the necessary course work is to have him or her take at least two exams in Advanced Placement classes or International Baccalaureate courses. If the student scores high enough and meets the other qualifications, he or she will be eligible for the grant.
You have encouraged your student to work hard in school for the last four years. You are proud of the accomplishments that have been reached. With the Academic Competitiveness Grant, you can help your child reap some of the rewards this hard work deserves.

Apply Online For a Pell Grant-Apply Free Online Grants

Apply Online For a Pell Grant-Apply Free Online Grants
Students need to research and access all available resources to help them find assistance to pay for their college bills. There are many college grants programs available to help students defray the cost of their education. These grants come from several sources – private foundations, local, state and Federal funding. Of all these sources, the one that is most available but is often overlooked is the Federal Pell Online Grant.
There are recruiters from colleges who are always on the lookout for students and student-athletes who possess exceptional talent for further training. For example, if you are a talented musician, perhaps 20 schools will be competing for your talents. The Pell Grant program is not like this at all because it is available to every student based on need.
The Federal Pell grant Program provides grants to low-income undergraduate and certain postgraduate students to ensure grants for graduate school and their access to advanced education. A Pell Grant is distinct from all other college grants in that it is applicable to any of the participating 5,500 or so postsecondary institutions.
You can gain access to Pell grants when you apply online for a grant of this nature. Government Grants.us can collaborate with you on your college grant search by helping you to access the Pell Grant Program. All you need to do is avail yourself of our self help services and apply for a grant online.
A Pell Grant amount depends on four factors: the student’s expected family contribution, or EFC; the cost of attending the particular institution; the student’s enrollment status as a full or part-time student; and whether or not the student attends for a full semester.
The U.S. Department of Education determines your financial need by using a formula, established by the U.S. Congress, to calculate your family’s EFC. When you apply for a grant, finances play a part. The fundamental elements in calculating the amount of a Pell Grant award are: student’s income; income of the parents and their assets; the size of the family household; and the number of other family members attending postsecondary institutions.
Government Grants.us gives you the tools you need to acquire a Federal Pell Grant. A Pell Grant allows students to attend postsecondary institutions that they would otherwise not have been able to attend. All you have to do is apply for a grant online, and you will increase your chances of receiving the funding you deserve. Take the first step to a brighter future for yourself and your loved ones by taking advantage of the services of Government Grants.us, your one-stop self help grant application center.

Society for the Humanities Fellowships 2013-2014

The Society for the Humanities invites scholars to reflect upon the theme of “Occupation: From Space and Time to Practice and Politics“ in order to further understanding of historical and contemporary practices of occupation within physical, professional, and virtual territories and practices. What does it mean “to be occupied” or “to be in the time of occupation”? The Society wishes to open the question of how occupation has shaped the humanities in relation to patterns of thought and artistic representation. Equally important is how historical events of occupation, as well as the establishment of intellectual professions and institutions, have relied on or shaped the humanities. The Society encourages applicants to investigate the cultural, social, artistic, philosophical, and political implications of the theme.

Fellows will work across disciplines to reflect on what occupation means philosophically, psychoanalytically, and theoretically.

Fellows might consider the implications of virtual, viral, ecological, and posthuman habitations. Scholars are invited to give equal consideration to how “occupation” might be understood across historical periods and global regions? How have the humanities, from philosophy and law to literature and performance, figured the difference between military occupation and territorial acquisition, between invasion and annexation? Regarding the differences between political movements and geopolitical conflict from East to West and South to North, to what extent do occupations of absolutism, fascism, and terrorism differ from democratic annexation, political demonstration, or anarchical demonstration? Occupation of mind and body, of identity and territory, may take another turn when culture is digital, artificial, and robotic. We also encourage questions inherent to philosophy, mysticism, witchcraft, aesthetics, and hysteria.

What are the historical instances of martial occupation and how have they shaped systems of governance, education, representation, law, and economics? What are the relations of ethnic and national occupations to structural systems of land, class, religious, gender, mental enclosure, sovereignty, and borders? Fellows might also consider the deep impact of occupation on contemporary events and movements, from virtual economies and emotions to corporate seizures and ecological disasters.

Reflection is also encouraged on how notions of enclosure have informed the conceptual and institutional framework of occupations in the humanities and arts, from poet and player to professor and philosopher? How are the academic traditions of judgment, ethics, research, and pedagogy inscribed in historical structures of occupation? How might occupation be understood in relation to the space and time of labor and work? Such questions may lead to consideration of the occupation of the humanities itself by for-profit enterprises, on the one, and by the rise of alternative academic careers on the other? What does it mean today to occupy the humanities?

The David R. Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future co-sponsors one fellowship to support scholarly work addressing occupation as it relates to energy, the environment or economic development.

Qualifications:
Fellows should be working on topics related to the year's theme. Their approach to the humanities should be broad enough to appeal to students and scholars in several humanistic disciplines.

The Society for the Humanities was established at Cornell University in 1966 to support research and teaching in the humanities. It is intended to be at once a research institute, a stimulus to educational innovation, and a continuing society of scholars. The Society and its Fellows have fostered path-breaking interdisciplinary dialogue and theoretical reflection on the humanities at large.

Fellows include scholars from other universities and members of the Cornell faculty released from regular duties. The fellowships are held for one academic year. Each Society Fellow will receive $45,000.

Applicants living outside North America are eligible for an additional $2,000 to assist with travel costs
. Fellows spend their time in research and writing, participate in the weekly Fellows Seminar, and offer one seminar related to their research. The seminars are generally informal, related to the Fellow's research, and open to graduate students, suitably qualified undergraduates, and faculty members. Fellows are encouraged to explore topics they would not normally teach and, in general, to experiment freely with both the content and the method of their courses.

Taming Scholars “Gone Wild”

Losing a Scholarship Is a Sacrilege
Losing a scholarship is an easy proposition. Why would any serious student do so? Higher education is becoming more and more expensive no matter in which part of the world you may reside. More and more American students are entering the workforce after being graduated with a mountain of debt that they won’t be able to pay off for many years. The phenomenon is becoming a reality in other countries as well. Any person, young or old, desirous of an advanced education, should welcome any financial assistance and should hold meeting the obligations of that assistance as nearly sacred.
Going Wild and Losing Scholarships
“Going wild” to the degree that financial assistance is lost can come in many forms. For instance, students in Mozambique lost their scholarships when they protested against their government’s lack of democratic reform, in spite of the fact that their grades were exemplary. A similar incident occurred in Swaziland when students took part in protests against the government. Malaysian students who are studying overseas are warned to be very careful about their affiliations while abroad. If they are associated with people or organizations that might affect their perceived loyalty to their government, they could lose their funding.

Bringing Down Tyrants with Education
This type of “going wild” is somewhat understandable because of the “good heart” of the students and the repressiveness of their governments. The fact is, funding is still lost. Perhaps if these students had been a little more cautious, they could have fought the repression more ably after earning a degree. In fact, it would be sweet to bring down a repressive regime using an education that the tyrants themselves had paid for.

Racist American Students Lose Scholarships
Other ways along the line of this sort of “going wild” have brought other students down. In an American state university, a number of marching band members lost their scholarships because of their racist taunts of students of Hispanic extraction who were questioned about their citizenship status. Illegal foreigners receiving student aid is a big problem in America at this time. None of the students who were taunted were illegally in school; they were reviled merely because of their Hispanic heritage. Thus, those band member students lost their scholarships because of their racism.

Sometimes “Going Wild” Is Not Wild at All
Often, failing to do the work required to maintain a scholarship doesn’t mean “going wild” at all; it’s just the failure to get out of bed to attend class or doing the work to maintain a grade point average – abject laziness, in other words. In America, some students receive their scholarships shortly before leaving their senior year of high school. Complacent, they develop what is called “senioritis” which is a “disease” of carelessness. Their grade averages fall, they lose their hard–won scholarships, and find themselves scrambling for money the summer before they enter university.

Sometimes “Going Wild” Is Truly Wild
No doubt about it, a human life is made of many epochs, and young adulthood is an especially wonder–filled time of life. Young people can have their heads turned because of the endless possibilities life holds. Sometimes they are swept away by friends who are not  academically inclined. Sometimes worse, they are beguiled by the acquisition and use of drugs or alcohol. The bad thing is, if ever there was a time when self–discipline is required, it is in this young time; yet the age or maturity that usually accompanies self–discipline is not there. Youngsters must look beyond these distractions and muster all in their character to avoid losing their scholarships and their chance at a higher education.

Consider Going Wild Before Botching Scholarships
Probably the most thing young people should do is examine their own lives, their own estimation of their abilities – not just academically – and to understand as completely as possible what might be right for themselves. It could very well be that some time off from the academic world before assuming the responsibility of a college or university education would be a good idea. They should leave their good grades intact, drop out and see the world, and then go back and get those scholarships and use them when they are more able because of increased maturity, or a clearer eye as to their goals in life. Once scholarships or trusts are abused, it is very difficult to go back and recover from that abuse.

Elements to Tame Scholars Gone Wild Are in Place
Once young people have built the trust of those willing to grant money to them through their grades, their athletic prowess, or other extraordinary achievement, the elements are in place to prevent them from squandering the opportunity:
  • Free Money
  • Self-Satisfaction
  • Earning Power of a Degree
  • Prestige of Being a Scholarship Winner
  • Availability of Even More Opportunity
  • Admiration of Peers, Educators, and Family
If having these wonderful elements in a student’s life is not enough to keep them from “going wild,” not much more can be done to save wild students beyond putting them in a cell full of books with escorts to and from class. Even severe strategies such as that would most probably fail. It is simply up to the character and the pragmatic outlook of the student to resist the temptation to “go wild.” Success is ultimately an individual accomplishment.
